When it was 2015, it was a very good year. . .

Like you, I am many things.  I am a maker of music. . .I am a veteran of both Madison Avenue and Digital Publishing. . .I am a conspirator with and enabler of others in their making of music.  I am also a collaborator - using the power of music and sound to draw the full significance and meaning from clients' moving images.  (I am also a friend, boyfriend, lover, fighter, son, brother, uncle, swimmer, bike-rider, instigator, devil's advocate, pain-in-the-ass and long-suffering fan of Cleveland sports teams).

But what I am not is a blogger or social-media titan. After all - note the suspect grammar within the run-on sentences.  Mrs. Jane Pease (English teacher at Tiffin East Junior High - right) would be appalled (bless her soul).  Fortunately - she would tactfully express her disappointment and displeasure - but she'd be appalled nonetheless. And - wait - how many more characters do I have before I hit 140?  Oh - different platform.

Anyway - I was recently chatting with a friend of mine over beers and we were both pleased to hear that the other was working hard and that life - including on the professional-front - had gone quite well in 2015. My friend told me "You should be letting people know, bro! You're working on some great projects and with some crazy-talented people. That's hot sh!t.  You've gotta get the word out!"

Problem:  I am not someone that is interested in drawing undue attention to myself - and braggadocious behavior?  Tsk tsk.  Now if I were on stage fronting a band or playing a solo gig - THAT'S different.  That involves the unwritten agreement between performer and audience.  But rather than "doing"? To instead WRITE about the doing?  To highlight my "achievements"?  To drop the names of the folks I have come in contact with?  That all feels alien and awkward to me.

My first boss in NYC was one of the first folks to pick up on this. Not long after working on Madison Avenue, he stated in the company-wide memo announcing my first promotion "You probably don't know it - but in just the first 6 months that Glen Muñoz has been with us, he has quietly gone about (achieving this, that and the other) which is why I am pleased to announce his promotion to. . .".  Yup - that pretty much sums me up.  I've always felt "Understand the task at hand and then do it.  No need for talk.  No need for 'Hey - look at what I did.' Just do it to the best of your abilities and then move onto the next."

Still - my pal insists that this MUST be done (Hmm - maybe I should be more comfortable with this idea - given that my undergrad degree is in Marketing).  So. . .this whole thing is going to be a work in progress.  My goal isn't necessarily to ever get fully comfortable with the self-promotional aspect of things - but I hope to get to the point where you find my thoughts, news and general "blogging" to be at least readable (if not maybe a little interesting).

If there is something you're curious about. . .if you'd like to start a conversation. . .even if you'd care to share a critique. . .please drop me a line.

Ok - here goes. . .starting with some highlights from 2015. . .
